Measuring Motivational Forces: The Apter Work Impact Survey (AWIS)

Why is the Apter Work Impact Survey (AWIS) Different?

The Eight Key Values of the AWIS
  • Achievement
  • Enjoyment
  • Fitting In
  • Freedom
  • Personal Power
  • Support from Others
  • Empowering Others
  • Care for Others

While most employee surveys measure a surface jumble of attitudes and opinions that, despite being extensive, reveal only part of the picture; the AWIS measures a structure of underlying values, met and unmet, that matter most in the context of your organisation and its strategy.

How do we work out "What Matters?"

The AWIS produces quantitative data based upon 40 questions, where managers and employees seperately rate each item as to how important it is and if they agree with it. "What matters" is therefore a function of both what's important and what's significant

We then interprets the data and produce a report/presentation (whichever suits you best) which details the main findings and what the implications of these are to the organisation.

The AWIS also allows you to include  additional items that can be specific to your organisation.

Key things measured by AWIS are as follows:

What is the AWIS?

The AWIS has 40 questions that represent the 8 Key Values, and can be taken online or on paper.

Managers and employees separately rate each item on how important it is, and whether it agrees with their experience.

Value Alignment: Do managers and employees agree on what is important?

Employee Satisfaction: Are employees frustrated because of the difference between what they want and what they are getting?

Organisational Coherence: Do managers believe that the motives important to organisational success are being satisfied in employees?

Delivery Recognition: Do managers and employees agree on what motivational needs are being met?
